The Hematite Fire Protection District is a combination-staffed district located approximately 35 miles southeast of St. Louis, MO. We cover 46 square miles of mainly a bedroom community. We do have some commercial business located along the 6 miles of U.S. 67 that runs through our District.
We would like to apologize for the mess, but we are currently redesigning our website. Feel free to check out the above links to other parts of our page.
Thank you.
New Patch
On March 8, 2010 we unveiled our new patch design. This is the fourth patch since our inception.
Jefferson County-911 Code Red
In December 2009, Jefferson County 911 made a successful test of their new Code Red system. The test was to inform the citizens of Jefferson County about the system.? This test was sent out to 70,000 phone numbers with 41,992 successful connections to people and answering machines.
The Code Red Emergency Notification System is a high volume communication service used for mass emergency notifications. Using this system, Jeffco 911 will be able to deliver pre-recorded emergency messages to homes and businesses in the event of evacuations, missing children and other types of emergencies. The system is designed to be delivered county wide or to a target location based on geographic mapping.
If the phone number 866-419-5000 appears in your caller ID, this is a call from the Code Red System. If you miss the message or would like to hear the message repeated, all you need to do is call the number back! You will hear the last message sent to your phone number. If you did not receive the test call in December, you can still sign up. Click on the Code Red icon below or in the Public Safety Sidebar and you will be directed to the registration site. All of your information will be kept confidential and will not be used for solicitations or other such phone calls.
